Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in january of 1913 (serial #51894, class J-3-b), it lasted until retirement and scrapping in June of 1959. Description:  Note on back of photo by photographer Anthony H. Perles states "CNR 5071, class J-21, on train 44 for Quebec." Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in January of 1913 as GTR #191 (Serial #51903, GTR class P5), it was renumbered in 1923 when CN absorbed the Grand Trunk. It became #5071, CN class J-3-b. The loco was retired in June of 1959.

This is one of the lucky steam locomotives as it was retired and donated to the City Of Prince Albert, SK, Canada in December of 1961 instead of being scrapped like all the others in its class. Title:  LPS L2 & a pair of CN Pacifics
Description:  A note on the back by photographer Anthony H. Perles states "L&PS L2 at CNR interdange, while CNR 4-6-2's 5585 and 5143 (class K-3) get under way with a coal drag westbound." The L2 )along with its 2 other sisters) was built in 1915 by GE of Canada for a cost of $29,367. After retiring, it was stored for a museum which never materialized. L2 was later sold privately and moved to the Toronto area. In February 1997, L2 was moved to the Halton County Radial Railway following its donation to the OERHA.

Description:  Sitting in a dead line with other steam locomotives is this 1919 Montreal Locomotive Works built 4-6-2 Pacific. Originally built for the Canadian Government Rwys (CGR) as their #490, it was transferred to the newly created Canadian National RR after the collapse of several Canadian railroads. Specs -serial #59474, class J-7a, 69" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 24x28" cylinders, engine weight of 268,000 lb, tractive effort of 39,736 lb. The loco was scrapped in October of 1959. H.L. Wtih the help of Raymond Kennedy (see comment below), this loco was originally built as CGR #493 buy Montreal Locomotive Works in 1918, builder #59477, before being absorbed by the new Canadian National.
