Pullman WOODLAND

Description:  Built in 1930 by Pullman in Lot #6360 to Plan #3410B as a 12S-1DR sleeper, 1 of 9 such cars built in that Lot. 6 of these 9 cars were built for UP's PORTLAND LIMITED, including the WOODLAND. The other 3 cars were built for the CAPITOL LIMITED. At the 12/31/1948 divestiture, UP acquired 5 of the PORTLAND LIMITED cars; the WOODLAND was retained by Pullman. Pullman sold the WOODLAND to John W. "Jack" Ferris' Private Railroad Cars, Incorporated in October 1965. The Oregon, Pacific & Eastern RR in Roseburg, OR, later acquired the WOODLAND, and it was later resold to the Galveston RR Museum. Iowa Pacific acquired the WOODLAND from Galveston. Title:  SLRG #9118 GRENADA
Description:  Built in 1950 by P-S in Lot #6871 to Plan #4069M as SP 4DB-4C-2DR sleeper #9118, 1 of 3 such cars (#9118-#9120) built in that Lot. Amtrak acquired these 3 cars in 1971 as #2380-#2382, and all 3 were retired in July 1981. In 1982, the #2380 and #2381 were sold to the Anbel Corporation in Brownsville, TX. Les Kasten later acquired these 2 cars from Anbel, and resold them to Golden Arrow Tours. The Wisconsin & Calumet RR later acquired these 2 cars; the #2381/#800020 was later resold to American-European Express, and the #2380 was later resold to a private owner. SLRG #9180 COUNTRY CLUB
Title:  SLRG #9180 COUNTRY CLUB
Description:  Built in 1929 by Pullman in Lot #6274 to Plan #3989A as 8S sleeper-buffet solarium lounge observation COUNTRY CLUB, 1 of 15 such cars built in that Lot. 10 of the 15 cars (including the COUNTRY CLUB) were built for the PRR, 3 cars were built for the Erie, and 2 cars were built for the Rock Island. In May 1940, the COUNTRY CLUB was renamed to ANTHRACITE CLUB. In December 1941 and January 1942, 6 of the PRR cars were changed to Plan #3989U, including the ANTHRACITE CLUB. At the 12/31/1948 Pullman divestiture, PRR acquired their 10 cars from this Lot (as #8620-#8629), the 3 cars built for the Erie were acquired by the B&O, and the 2 cars built for the CRI&P were acquired by the SP&S. In 1957-1958, PRR withdrew these 10 cars from revenue service, and 9 of the 10 were subsequently converted to MofW bunk cars; the ANTHRACITE CLUB as #492383. The car was later sold to private ownership as PAPX #492383, and was listed for sale on Ozark Mountain Railcar in circa 2009. It was subsequently acquired by Iowa Pacific as the COUNTRY CLUB. Besides the COUNTRY CLUB, there are 3 other PRR cars from this Lot which are known to be extant: #8629 UNIVERSITY CLUB is also owned by Iowa Pacific as SLRG #9170, #8627 TRAFFIC CLUB was formerly owned by George Hart and is currently stored in Jim Thorpe, PA, and #8628 UNION LEAGUE CLUB is owned by the Horseshoe Curve Chapter NRHS and located at the Railroader's Memorial Museum in Altoona. Description:  Built in 1949 by P-S in Lot #6792 to Plan #4134 as PRR Class POS211 2DR-1C-1DB sleeper-25 seat buffet lounge blunt end observation #8427 WILLIAM WALLACE ATTERBURY, 1 of 7 such cars (#8421-#8427) built in that Lot; these cars were ordered in January 1946 and delivered between March and April 1949. In 1957, 5 of these cars were renumbered to #7154-#7158 for parlor service, the WILLIAM WALLACE ATTERBURY as #7155; these 5 cars were returned to the original numbers in 1958. The WILLIAM WALLACE ATTERBURY was retired in 1967 and sold to James E. Strates Shows. The ATTERBURY is 1 of 4 extant cars from Class POS211. The other 3 are: #8422/#7158 GEORGE BROOKE ROBERTS, which is now privately owned as the #800027 JOHN T. BRIGHAM; the #8423/#7156 FRANK THOMSON, which is now the #800110 LOUIS SOCKALEXIS; and the #8426 SAMUEL REA, which was formerly owned by the Indiana Railway Museum in French Lick, and is now owned by the Great Lakes Central.
