Description:
Chicago & North Western H10-44 1059 at Green Bay, Wisconsin on September 5, 1976, photo by J. H. Nixon, Chuck Zeiler collection. Built in July 1949 (c/n 10L137), it was retired January 9, 1976. The C&NW owned 21 of this model, in various builders styles or phases. It was powered by a six cylinder 12 opposed piston diesel prime mover producing 1000 horsepower. A total of 197 of this model were produced for US customers.
