Interesteing note on back by the photographer Joseph McCormack, "Always kept together and used for helper (pusher) service." Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Chicago, Illinois, during June of 1963. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8501, an ES-15MS built by GM-EMD August of 1952 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. In this context, it's pulling a four-coach commuter train out of Chicago's Union Station. ("Tchowee"; #28 of 29) |

Pennsylvania Railroad GP7 8501 around 59th Street in Chicago, Illinois on October 10, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in August 1952 (c/n 16757) on EMD Order 5169, it was renumbered to PRR 5951, became PC 5951, later PC 5954, then CR 5954. It did not have dynamic brakes but it was equipped with a steam generator. |
