Here is the front cover of a 47-page booklet by Katherine Woods entitled "The Broadway Limited: 1902-1927." It was issued originally by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1927. The cover illustration comes from a painting called "Speed and Security" that was produced in 1924 by Harold M. Brett (1880–1955). It depicts the "Broadway Limited" passing over the Susquehanna River via the Rockville Bridge a few miles north of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Prominent here is PRR engine #5357, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during March of 1924 and retired in February of 1949 after 25 years of faithful service. |
