PRR 5769, EP-22, 1954
Kern. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, on 25 July 1954. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5769 and another E-8 whose road number is not recorded. Both are EP-22's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #5769 was constructed in May of 1952. In this context, this A-A set is departing the Tyrone Station with a passenger train bound for Altoona and points West. The white smoke plume in the right-distance marks the location of the Paper Mill in downtown Tyrone. ("PrrFan18n")
