Former Erie Snowplow #1305 - now Conrail
Michael A Tedesco caught this Erie snowplow sitting in the Hornell, NY, yard in 1976. Still wearing its original Erie logo, the snowplow was part of the merged Erie and DLW company. This photo is at the edge of the Conrail transition when EL failed. Thanks to Tom Beckett (see comment below), we now have a fuller history on this piece going back to its DLW origins as DLW #95903 and move eventually onto the NS roster. Does anyone know of the disposition of the snowplow after Conrail?

Tom Beckett General It was built as DL&W 95903, and became CR 64570. I don't know the disposition, but it is featured on page 37 of Conrail Color Guide to Freight Equipment Vol. 1, which I don't have. I found a photo of it at Gang Mills(the ex Erie yard just west of Corning NY, still active on NS) in July 1996, on hazegray.org, so it lasted at least that long. The plow looked like it was in fairly fresh paint, so probably had a future. I'm betting it went into NS at the split, but can't verify without some deeper research. BTW, this would have been Conrail equipment at this date. CR startup was April 1 1976. 5/3/2021 3:50:16 AM
