This is one of the former Canadian Pacific SD40's that was transferred to the spinoff subsidiary, St Lawrence and Hudson Rwy. The CP owned subsidiary lasted almost 5 years from October of 1996 until being reabsorbed back into the CP in January of 2001. Unknown photographer

Tom Beckett General There were several dozen of these units, most of them SD 40/-2's, but also some GP 38-2's(7306 and 7308 come to mind) as well as a handful of GP 9u's that worked local D22(better known as SU 2) out of Binghamton. 9/21/2020 3:25:42 AM
Tom Beckett General Also of note, the 5426 behind this is one of the GATX lease units CP acquired. They had been general service MP units inherited by UP-hence the yellow paint-and arrived without dynamic brakes. CP installed them, and then bought the power, renumbering it 5422-5431 above the seven ex KCS units that became 5415-5421. All of the KCS units got Dual Flag, but not all the ex GATX units got repainted. 9/21/2020 3:28:13 AM
