A couple of railroaders were looking on as Sperry Rail Service car 124 was being moved onto the New Orleans Public Belt turntable at the railroad’s engine terminal. The 124 had been built by the Electro-Motive Corp. and the St. Louis Car Co. in August 1925 as Milwaukee Road motorcar 141, but that order was cancelled, so it was sold as Lehigh Valley 20 and was purchased by SRS in June 1937. |
