Mississippi Central 2-8-2 131
Mississippi Central 131 was photographed at Hattiesburg a year before all of the railroad’s steam engines were replaced by new EMD SW9’s 201-210. The locomotive was one of two MSC Mikados (130 and 131) that had been built by Alco’s Brooks Works (65352) in December 1923. The 131 was one of seven MSC locos that were sold to the Southwest Steel Co. of Memphis in June 1953, but it derailed on its way to Memphis and was scrapped at Hattiesburg.
