Here is the fifth of eight original photos that were taken by an unidentified photographer at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1957. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9801 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9801 is an EF-15A built in March of 1951. They are pulling a mixed-cargo freight train around the Curve and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. |
