Photo by Philip R. Hastings. Partially visible in the foreground is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5859, an EP-20 built by GM-EMD in February of 1948 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. It is heading a mail and express train up and around the Horseshoe Curve on its way to Gallitzin and points West. On the right are two GM-EMD GP-9 pushers on the rear end of the train. |
