RTIX 774
Another recent addition to the museum, this coach from the former Rail Tours Inc. fleet that for many years called Jim Thorpe, PA home. Constructed as RDG commuter coach 1276 by Bethlehem Steel's Harlan & Hollingsworth Division in 1923 for use in the Philadelphia commuter district, hauled by steam power. In 1947, the car was renumbered 774 when it and seven sisters were rebuilt as trailer cars for use with the electric MUs in the electrified suburban territory as a means to increase the number of available seats for passengers. After retirement from Philly area commuter service during the Bicentennial year, it was acquired by Rail Tours for operations out of Jim Thorpe on the former CNJ mainline, a service it provided until Rail Tours was replaced by the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway in 2005.
