Here is page 19 of a 34-page article (in five installments) entitled "Locomotives Of the Pennsylvania." It was published originally in the September 1941 issue of "Railroad" magazine, page 89. Photo Caption: "Chicago-Bound. The world's largest steam passenger locomotive wheels the 'Manhattan Limited' on the last leg of a run. Although the '6100' has been in service for almost a year, this is the first action photo to be released by the Railroad." #6100 is an S-1 (6-4-4-6) locomotive built in Juniata during January of 1939 and retired in January of 1949. |
