Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. Shown here passing under the 4th Street Footbridge is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6308, an AF-27 built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower. It's heading to the Passenger Station where it will serve as a helper engine for westbound passenger trains heading up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, where the helper will be uncoupled and returned to the Station for further assigment. Wave to the Engineman! (#42 of 44) |
