A leased Soo Line GP7 on the C&NW "Spine Line" at Albert Lea. Albert Lea became an important Junction between the Minneapolis & St. Louis and Illinois Central as the two railroads teamed up to form a competitive route between the Twin Cities and Chicago. In the 1950's, it was common for M&StL F units to be used on the daily Cedar Lake-Waterloo turn. This joint marketing program ended in the late 1960's. |
