Joe Magruder	General	Following a major electrical fire, 2500 was rebuilt in Fond du Lac to what WC called a SD39-3 in early 2000. It retains its 16-567 turbo-charged prime mover but has been derated to 2300 h.p. It was done due to space restraints in the new electrical cabinet; lowering horsepower reduced number of transition steps which allows less number of electrical components.
