| FARWELL TX Oct 8 1988 -- Santa Fe GP35u 2838 handles a local freight near the Texas-New Mexico border. EMD built the 2838 in May 1964 as ATSF 1338 (b/n 28735) and delivered it in blue with yellow ends. It became 3338 during the general renumbering and was repainted to yellow warbonnet after mid-June 1972. It was rebuilt to a GP35u and renumbered to 2838 in September 1983. It was renumbered SPSF 3595 between July 31 1985 and July 24 1986 but was not repainted to red-yellow. It was again renumbered to ATSF 2838 before the time of this picture.
