While the Bartletts operations were at a standstill this sleepy Sunday, their neighbors over at Ag Processing were busy at work switching their hoppers around the facility. AGPX GP10 8237, built as DT&I GP7 963 in April 1953, bustles around the property with a freindly crew of three employees riding along. DT&I 963 was rebuilt in the Illinois Central Gulf Paducah Shops in 1974 into one of the many GP10 rebuilds created in the Illinois Central's program between 1967 and 1978, finishing the final GP10 six years after the merger with Gulf, Mobile and Ohio. DT&I 963 rolled out of Paducah as ICG GP10 8237, and served the ICG until being sold to the Paducah and Louisville as PAL 8237 in the 1980s, where it would continue to run over home rails in Kentucky wearing a new IC-inspired livery until finding its way to Saint Joseph in the 2000s where it still continues to operate for the AGP today. |
