According to the June 1965 edition of The Official Guide, this was the Denver section of the Rocky Mountain Rocket backing into Union Station in preparation for its 11:30 AM ( Mountain Standard Time ) departure. This was the only First Class Rock Island train scheduled to reach Denver. Also departing at 11:30 AM was the Colorado Springs section of the same train, and both will become one train at Limon, Colorado, Train # 8, the eastbound Rocky Mountain Rocket, arriving in Chicago the next morning at 8:45 AM CST. The sleeper, diner, and club-lounge cars as well as about half of the chair cars went to Denver, with only chair cars going to Colorado Springs. |
