Although built after the introduction of the U33C (1968), the BN was more interested in tractive effort than high horsepower for its coal business, so an order was placed in 1972 for 20 U30C's (5300-5319), and followed up that order wiwh another for 15 additional U30C's (5320-5334) before the first order arrived. |
