Description:
Here is page 25 of a 64-page booklet published by Harry P. Albrecht entitled "World Famous Horseshoe Curve, Altoona, Pennsylvania Railroad." It was first issued in September of 1973. Top Photo Caption: "Two Class I-1 locomotives assisting a heavy westbound freight 'drag' over the Curve to Gallitzin where they will be dropped and returned to Altoona." Partially visible here is Pennsylvania Railroad N-5 cabin car #477333. Both photos taken by H.W. Pontin in July of 1940.
