Nice b&w photo by J.R.Quinn of Lehigh & New England 2-8-0C Consolidation camelback #27 built by Baldwin in July of 1908. Specs - serial #34834, class E-8 class E-8, 50" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, engine weight of 151,000 lb. tractive effort of 35,360 lb. The entire E-8 class of eight members was superheated at a later date. There is a conflict in resources about the dispostion of the loco. One source lists it being scrapped in 1921 but this photo post dates that info. Not sure which is more correct. Does anyone know? |
