BUTTE MT Sept 26 1978 -- Burlington Northern GP9 1740 is idled by a nationwide railroad strike. EMD built the unit (s/n 22785) in in February 1957 as Northern Pacific 302. It was retired Sept 9 1985 and sold to Coast Engine and Equipment Co.
