Alabama Southern Railroad |
Description: |
Drummond Coal Company's (recently rebuilt) Bucyrus-Erie dragline "Mr. Tom" crossing over the ABS Railroad main line in Brookwood. ABS line is just behind dragline, buried in 10 plus feet of earth! All rail traffic was stopped for a 24 hour period. Final destination of the dragline will be Drummond's Shannon mine near the Jefferson-Tuscaloosa County border. It will have to cross the CSX Railroad main line two times also. |

An unusual sight. All CN powered train parked south of Tuscaloosa on the old dead-end GM&O line to Montgomery, now operated by WATCO (ABS Railroad). The orientation of this train suggestes it came in from KCS Artesia, Mississippi. |
