Description:  As part of a photo session from the previous night, station signs were added to the former GTW Station, now owned and operated by the Owosso Elks club, for the first time in many years. The last time I looked, several months ago, the sign seen here was still on the building, where it will hopefully remain for a while.

(1) The International Returns!
Title:  (1) The International Returns!
Description:  Well, sort of. Due to a shortage of single level equipment (due to the insanely cold temperatures), Amtrak began using Superliners on the Blue Water in mid-January, giving the train a look that was not-unlike its predecessor, the Chicago-Toronto International. On this day, due to traction motor problems on several Michigan-assigned P42s, cabbage 90218 was substituted on the train. This was the first time since late 2005 that 90218 had seen use on the Blue Water, although several other cabbages had appeared on the train over the winter.

CP 8775 on X500
Title:  CP 8775 on X500
Description:  After catching UP 1988 on CN west of Lansing, I was heading back home to East Lansing when I noticed X500 going through downtown. After grappling over where I could shoot the train, I finally settled on Farm Lane. A very good choice seeing that the crossing closed forever several weeks later. CP 8775 leads X500 over the crest of the hill, completing its climb out of the Red Cedar river valley, as it approaches Farm Lane.

Description:  CP GEVO 8775 leads X500 along Incinerator road as it approaches the Farm Lane crossing on the south side of MSU. This view can no longer be obtained, as shortly after this photo was taken, the crossing was closed for conversion into an underpass. A temporary shoefly now sits where I was standing (or in this case crouching) to get this photo.

Title:  CP 9778 Leading X500
Description:  After finishing up at the swim meet in Holland, I started to head home when I noticed X500 heading north through town.
